How to earn that White Belt
Scheduling Classes in MyStudio – Please schedule your students classes in the MyStudio app in advance of class so that they can get attendance credit.
Kuk Sool is a Korean Martial Art
You will hear a bit of Korean in class. New students don’t have to learn or really understand any of it, but Counting is one of the must common and students are often curious how to count. This is also something they will be asked to do at some point (like during pushups or holding stances—-and eventually when the are leading class).
How to Tie your belt

How Testing works
Testing Policy
General Rules:
- All students must be formally invited to test (not automatic)
- Every student receives a paper Testing Invitation
- Uniform for testing: Full CMA uniform (black CMA t-shirt, jacket, pants)
- Testing is a privilege based on skill, etiquette, attendance, and readiness
- Please be there for the WHOLE time – board breaking and belt promotion will happen at the end.
Tiny Tigers / Little Dragons / After-School
- In-class testing only
- Occurs at the end of each month (testing sheets normally given the first week of the month
- After-School students may:
Test at their school program, or
Test at the main studio if parents want to watch (in-class or Special Weekend Promotion) - Stripes indicate progress but do not guarantee a test invitation
Junior, Youth & Adult
Must meet ALL of the following:
- Curriculum Knowledge is the primary requirement
- Minimum 2 months between promotions
- Attendance Requirement
Minimum: 8 classes between promotions
Preferred: 16–24 classes (especially Youth/Adults with larger curriculum)
Faster progress expected for 2x/week students vs. 1x/week students
Testing Format
- Testing should take place at a formal testing event — NOT regular class
- In-class testing exceptions may occur only for:
Lower ranks
Special circumstances (director approval) - Parents/guests are encouraged to attend and watch
Testing Frequency
- InClass testing for Tiny Tigers, ASC and Lil’Dragon is usually available on a monthly basis
- Testing is typically offered two out of three months (twice a Quarter- primary Testing and then a makeup test) The third month of the quarter will typically be Black Belt Testing
Some classes are sparring – How do I learn more about that?
